SeaTac, Washington is a city of 30,000 residents located in King County. It is twelve miles south of downtown Seattle and twenty miles north of downtown Tacoma.
The city, which was incorporated in 1990, is a hybrid name between the cities of Seattle and Tacoma.
SeaTac is at an elevation of about 400 feet, located about five miles east of Puget Sound. It is about ten square miles in size.
SeaTac is bordered by the cities of Tukwila to the east and north, Burien to the northwest and west, Normandy Park to the southwest, Des Moines to the south, and Kent to the southeast.
The communities of Angle Lake, Bow Lake, McMicken Heights, and Riverton Heights are all within SeaTac's city limits. The Riverton Heights Post Office is in the city.
There is no Puget Sound access directly from SeaTac. The city does not border the scenic body of water. However, there are nearby waterfront parks in Des Moines and Burien.
SeaTac's economy is primarily based on the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, which is located in the city. It's the Puget Sound region's largest airport serving commercial passenger airlines.
Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air's headquarters is located in SeaTac along with many other businesses in the aviation industry.
Numerous hotels, rental car agencies, restaurants, and airport parking businesses can be found in SeaTac.
There are two prominent federal government facilities in SeaTac. The National Transportation Safety Board has their Seattle Aviation Field Office in the city. There is also a large Federal Bureau of Prisons detention center facilty on S 200th Street in SeaTac.'

SeaTac is a diverse community. The most common languages spoken besides English are Spanish, Somali and Punjabi. The city has a public library and is served by the King County Sheriff's Office.
SeaTac is in the Highline School District and is home to Tyee High School.
SeaTac has a lot of great opportunities for recreation. Its parks include Angle Lake Park, which has a boat launch, a fishing pier, and playground equipment, and Des Moines Creek Trail Park.
Des Moines Creek Trail Park is a paved trail and nature area that begins south of the airport and connects to Des Moines Beach and Puget Sound. It has ninety-six largely wooded acres. It's a fantastic trail for bicyclists, pedestrians, and nature lovers.
Nature lovers can also enjoy the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden, which is a 10.5 acre community botanical garden with no admission fee.
The city also has Grandview Park, which is a thirty-seven-acre dog off-leash park with excellent views of Auburn/Kent and the Green River Valley.
These parks and its smaller city parks and trails provide recreation for SeaTac's citizens and visitors.
